A pair of student athletes found the teenager unconscious near the football fields at about 4 p.m., Lame Deer Public Schools Superintendent Gerald Chouinard said Wednesday. The two students carried him into a school building, where a teacher and a coach called 911 and then tried, unsuccessfully, to resuscitate Littlebird, he said.
The high school was closed Wednesday in response to Littlebird's death. Classes resumed Thursday.
