Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument will open its doors free to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15.
The monument will use the occasion to introduce its new Night Sky Program. Night Sky information will be available to the public and telescopes will be on display in the visitor center lobby. For those interested, there will be night sky viewing available in the parking lot from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Anyone interested in the night sky viewing should contact the monument at 406-638-3214, 638-3217, or email Rachel_vegors@nps.gov.
During the day, the monument will offer a 15 percent discount on all items in the visitor center bookstore and refreshments will be served.
Winter hours are in effect. The visitor center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. The self-guiding tour road to the Reno-Benteen Battlefield is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Custer National Cemetery hours are commensurate with the visitor center. The park will be closed on Christmas and New Years.
