GREAT FALLS - Great Falls police have arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder for an attack on a woman.

Sgt. Shane Sorensen said Thomas Peltier was arrested Friday night.

Officers say when a 29-year-old woman arrived home Friday night, Peltier pushed her through the door and pushed her face on the floor, breaking a facial bone.

Sorensen says the assault continued with the woman being beaten and choked. The woman told officers Peltier threatened to kill her and cut her head off.

The woman was able to escape and called police at about 8 p.m. Friday.

Officers spotted Peltier's truck at a gas station. Police say Peltier tried to ram an officer's patrol car with his truck before speeding off. Officers used stop sticks to flatten the tires on the pickup and had to use a stun gun to subdue Peltier.
