A Lame Deer man accused of being a habitual domestic abuser denied federal charges Tuesday.
Appearing for arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn Ostby, Vaughn Thomas Shoulder Blade, 40, pleaded not guilty to an indictment charging him with domestic abuse by habitual offender.
Shoulder Blade is accused of assaulting a person identified as R.F. last Nov. 19 in Lame Deer. Shoulder Blade has been convicted of at least two prior assaults against R.F., with whom Shoulder Blade has lived and has children, the indictment said. Shoulder Blade faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted. He remains in custody. The case will be heard by Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull.
