Williston police are searching for a suspect in an early Saturday morning shooting that left a 28-year-old man dead.

The Williston Herald reported the shooting happened just before 1 a.m. in front of bar in downtown Williston. Detective Cory Collings told the Herald that responding officers found the victim lying in the street and he died shortly afterward at a Williston hospital.

According to police, the victim and a few friends had been at Whispers when a verbal argument began. The victim went back into the bar and left with friends at closing time. Police said another altercation took place outside Heartbreakers, where the victim was shot.

The suspect took off northbound on foot, police said.

The suspect is described as white male, 40s, short dirty blonde to brown hair, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 160-170 lbs.
