DEER LODGE - A Three Forks man who is registered with the state to provide medical marijuana to patients has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges after officers who stopped him for speeding found a half-pound of marijuana in his car.

David B. Kinney, 48, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana and obstruction of a peace officer before District Judge Ray Dayton. Dayton sentenced Kinney to six months of probation, a $500 fine and forfeiture of the $3,500 seized from him during the August 2008 traffic stop on Interstate 90. Kinney told investigators that he was registered with the state and had permits to possess approximately 5 ounces of marijuana for delivery to five individuals, as well as a permit for his own use.
