Gallatin National Forest officials will provide an update on restoration work going on at the New World Mining District north of Cooke City at a meeting Wednesday at the Comfort Inn, 1370 N. 7th Ave., in Bozeman.
The three-hour meeting starts at 9 a.m. and is open to the public. The meeting will cover work accomplishments, including mine adit and road maintenance updates along with water quality status reports and long-term operation plans.
The project is located in a historic metals mining district, just northeast of Yellowstone National Park. The Forest Service has been working since 1999 to restore and monitor the site.
