FRENCHTOWN - A 27-year-old Frenchtown man who had been missing since Sept. 7 was the victim of a pickup crash.
The Missoula County sheriff's office reports a rancher walking his fence line Monday evening spotted a yellow flatbed pickup truck at the bottom of a steep embankment. The rancher and his son suspected the truck belonged to the missing man, Josh Carter, and called the sheriff's department.
Deputies confirmed the vehicle was Carter's and also located his body. He had been thrown from the pickup during the crash.
The Montana Highway Patrol says it appears Carter lost control of his vehicle while traveling east on Pulp Mill Road. The pickup hit and crossed over the guardrail and rolled down the embankment.
Carter was last seen leaving a Frenchtown bar.
