MISSOULA - A 21-year-old Missoula man is accused of driving drunk, striking a bicyclist and leaving the scene of the accident.
Christopher Robert Patterson was charged Tuesday with negligent vehicular assault and failure to remain at an accident scene.
Prosecutors say he had a blood alcohol level of 0.165 percent - more than twice the legal limit for driving - when he hit a cyclist near the University of Montana early Tuesday morning. Charging documents say Patterson told police he hit a rock and then began complaining about cyclists without lights.
The cyclist was treated at a nearby hospital and has since been released.
Police say Patterson acknowledged the collision and seeing the victim lying on the side of the road in his rear-view mirror.
