Members of the Northern Cheyenne tribe elected a new president and vice president on Tuesday.

Leroy Spang, a newcomer to politics, was elected tribal president, and Joe Fox Jr., Ashland District council member, was elected vice president.

John Robinson, the chief trial judge, and Roni Rae Brady, a trial judge, were re-elected to their positions.

Tracy Robinson was elected to the Ashland tribal council seat. Yulberton "Alec" Sandcrane won the Birney tribal council seat. Robert D. Bailey won the Busby tribal council seat. Jule Spang Sr. won the Lame Deer tribal council seat and George Scalpcane won the Muddy tribal council seat.

Spang ran against former President Eugene Little Coyote, who was forcibly removed from office in December. Little Coyote and Spang were the two top vote-getters in the primary election, which included a field of 12 candidates for president.
