GREAT FALLS - A 46-year-old Poplar man has pleaded guilty to stealing from a Fort Peck Tribes casino.

Harry P. Three Stars pleaded guilty Tuesday before U.S. Magistrate Keith Strong in Great Falls. Sentencing is set for March 9.

Court records say a tribal comptroller determined that more than $52,000 in bank deposits hadn't been made to the account of Tribal Express, a tribally-owned business.

Prosecutors say the tribe's bookkeeper became suspicious that money was missing when Tribal Express got about $500,000 behind in payments to vendors.

Three Stars, who was manager of Tribal Express, admitted taking about $25,000 between November 2004 and April 2005 to purchase drugs. He also acknowledged taking $2,500 from a cash box when he was suspended in April 2005 and using the money to buy drugs.
