HAMILTON — Ravalli County commissioners plan to hold a second vote to approve a new planning director because they didn't follow state law and provide adequate public notice before the first vote.

Commission Chairman J.R. Iman tells the Ravalli Republic that commissioners on Monday will discuss voiding the first vote and rescheduling a second.

Commissioners on Tuesday hired Terry Nelson, chairman of the Ravalli County Republican Central Committee, as the county's new planning director.

However, commissioners only gave a one-day notice to the public about the vote rather than the two days required by law
