HAMILTON — Ravalli County commissioners are asking the state to review a U.S. Highway 93 intersection where a Hamilton teen was recently killed in a two-car crash.
The Ravalli Republic reports the commission voted unanimously Monday to ask the state Department of Transportation for a speed study and an accident report on the intersection of U.S. Highway 93 and Skalkaho Highway, just south of Hamilton.
A Hamilton High sophomore was killed at the intersection on Nov. 14 after being struck broadside while attempting to turn left from the Skalkaho Highway onto Highway 93.
The speed limit on Highway 93 at the intersection is 70 mph.
Ravalli County Commissioner J.R. Iman said the commission will also ask the state DOT to consider installing traffic lights at the intersection. Iman says the state has indicated it would work quickly to get a speed study completed.
