School worker accused of assault

HAVRE (AP) - A worker at a school for troubled youths is accused of fondling a 15-year-old boy enrolled there.

Justin Peterson, 22, of Miles City, was charged with sexual assault after Anchor Academy contacted authorities.

Hi-Line Baptist Church and Ministries operates the school at a former military base north of Havre.

The boy was fondled May 17 while he and Peterson talked on Peterson's bed behind a partition in a campus dormitory, according to documents filed in District Court. The child notified the school superintendent the next day, the documents say.

Superintendent Dennis McElwrath made a report to the Hill County Sheriff's Department on May 20, said Ric Munfrada, the investigating deputy.

Peterson worked at Anchor Academy for just over two years, in jobs that included food preparation and dormitory supervision, McElwrath said.

After his arrest, Peterson was released and enrolled in a treatment program voluntarily, Munfrada said.
