HELENA — Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Cheryl Liedle has been elected president of the Montana Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association.

Liedle's tenure began June 16, and will continue until June 2007, when the association's annual training and convention will be held in Helena.

She said she would spend her tenure educating young members of the law enforcement community, and reminding senior members, that a career in law enforcement calls for courageous, ethical, and exemplary behavior.

Liedle took over the office from Rosebud County Undersheriff Tom Skinner.
