HELENA - Texas oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens, who is waging a campaign to reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil, is scheduled to speak in Helena in late February.
Gov. Brian Schweitzer and the Montana Ambassadors have arranged for Pickens to speak at the Ambassadors annual conference on Feb. 27 at the Great Northern Hotel.
Pickens is campaigning to reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil by 30 percent within the next decade by developing domestic energy resources, such as wind power, and through conservation.
The Montana Ambassadors are a group of private and public sector representatives charged with assisting the governor in recruiting new businesses to the state. Chapters are currently established in Seattle, Denver and San Francisco, with others to be added.
