HELENA -- U.S. Sen. Jon Tester is reporting that he raised another $1.1 million in the final three months of 2011 for his re-election campaign against Republican U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg.
Tester reported closing out 2011 with $3.8 million on hand in one of the nation's most closely watched and heated 2012 Senate battles.
The Democrat has so far been outpacing Rehberg in the money race, although Rehberg and his allies also have had plenty of money on hand to run a competitive race.
Rehberg's latest fundraising totals weren't yet available Thursday.
Both sides have been critical of where the other is getting money in a race that has already had plenty of testy exchanges with more than nine months left to Election Day.
