HELENA — It was business as usual for Helena residents late Saturday afternoon as they shopped and traveled to their destinations, but officials with the Montana Highway Patrol, Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office, and the city of Helena Police Department were on hand to assist in preparations for a special visitor.
Just before 5 p.m. Air Force Two with Vice President Joe Biden aboard landed at the Helena Regional Airport. As he did, local officers worked to close roads leading to the Sieben Ranch.
Travelers were stopped on North Washington Street, and the Custer Avenue and Cedar Street bridges were temporarily closed as the motorcade made its way to the ranch north of town. Biden came to the Queen City to attend the wedding of U.S. Sen. Max Baucus, who is marrying his former state office director, Melodee Hanes.
Baucus is reportedly a good friend of Biden's.
