GREAT FALLS - A 50-year-old Wolf Point man pleaded guilty Thursday to theft from an Indian gaming establishment in a scheme that prosecutors say netted thousands of dollars.

David A. Campbell, the former general manager of the Silver Wolf Casino in Wolf Point, was the second man to plead guilty in the case. Raymond Beauchman, the casino's assistant manager at the time of the theft, pleaded guilty Nov. 5 to the same charge.

A casino bookkeeper discovered in September 2006 that money was missing but was assured by Campbell that the discrepancies were caused by machine malfunctions. The bookkeeper also found that Beauchman, also of Wolf Point, was conducting only weekly audits instead of the required daily audits and was not recording the losses.

Prosecutors say auditors found nearly $22,000 missing from casino slot machine collections.
