ANACONDA - A woman accused of embezzling $19,000 from an Anaconda brewery and restaurant has pleaded not guilty to felony theft.

Mardine Silvia of Sparks, Nev., is accused of stealing $19,402.60 from the Rocky Mountain Brewery Co. and using the money for personal gain. The 35-year-old woman was bookkeeper for the business between May and October 2007.

Court records allege that Silvia used brewery money for her son's Florida football camp tuition, a hotel room, car rental, department store purchases and a family vacation.

She entered the plea Wednesday in Anaconda District Court. Judge Ray Dayton denied her request for a public defender, saying her income is too high. Silvia is free on her own recognizance.
