HAMILTON — The Montana Highway Patrol says a two-vehicle collision south of Hamilton claimed the life of a 16-year-old Hamilton girl.

Trooper Rocky Bailey says the victim was trying to turn left onto U.S. Highway 93 at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday when she pulled into the path of an oncoming car. The victim's car was struck on the driver's side door.

Both drivers were students at Hamilton High School. The other driver and her mother were wearing seat belts and were not injured.

Bailey says another car was turning off U.S. 93 onto Skalkaho Highway, which may have obstructed the view of the girl that was killed.
