The 66-year-old man who died after he was dragged by a semi truck earlier this week has been identified.
Michael Payette died from injuries he sustained after a mechanic began driving a semi truck Payette had become entangled in after police believe he crawled between the truck and trailer, said Richland County Coroner Robert Pulver.
Payette had brought a semi truck to a private trucking company yard outside of Sidney Monday night. After speaking to mechanics about the truck's maintenance needs, investigators think Payette crawled between the truck and trailer.

The mechanic who began driving the vehicle thought Payette had walked into an office nearby, Sgt. Nyle Obergfell of the Montana Highway Patrol said. Bystanders called out to the mechanic to stop the vehicle and then called 911. Payette succumbed to his injuries after he was taken to Sidney Health Center.
