WEST YELLOWSTONE — Early snowfall has allowed the opening of the Rendezvous Ski Trail system.

The opening is just in time for the upcoming Yellowstone Ski Festival, which takes place the week of Thanksgiving and includes Nordic skiing clinics, SuperTour races, biathlon races, the Try It and Buy It Gear Demo, an Indoor Ski Show and a variety of presentations and classes.

During November, a Yellowstone Ski Festival pass is required for all skiers. Pass prices per skier are $10 for one day, $25 for three days and $45 for the month of November. Passes are available in West Yellowstone at the Chamber of Commerce, FreeHeel & Wheel, Holiday Inn and at the Rendezvous Trailhead.

From Dec. 1 to March 31, skiers will need a permit to use the trail system. Permit prices are $8 a day per skier, $40 for an individual season permit and $75 for a family season permit. Permits will be available in West Yellowstone at Alpen Guides, Bud Lilly's, FreeHeel & Wheel, the Chamber of Commerce and the Hebgen Lake Ranger Station. Only day permits will be available at the Rendezvous Trailhead.
