LARAMIE - Fishermen will compete to win cash at Lake Hattie this weekend.
This is the 18th year of the annual ice fishing derby at the lake west of Laramie. Anglers will compete for $3,500 in prize money.
The biggest fish caught every hour of the derby carries a $100 prize. The biggest fish of the day brings $400, and the biggest fish of the derby will fetch $1,000.
Fishing lasts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Director B.J. Shipp said the derby is the major fundraiser for the Laramie Plains Lions Club. The group uses the money to fund scholarships, camps and vision screenings.
About 300 people are expected to take part.
