GILLETTE, Wyo. - A company that has restarted Campbell County's first uranium mine in more than decade says it plans to open a second mine in the county in 2015.

Canadian-owned Uranium One resumed operations at the Christensen Ranch uranium mine and at a nearby processing facility in January.

It's an in-situ mine where chemicals are pumped underground to dissolve rock. A solution containing uranium is then pumped to the surface.

The Gillette News-Record reports the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality issued Uranium One a permit for a second mine in December.
