Worland store financial losses prompt changes

WORLAND, Wyo. - A community-owned department store in Worland has been struggling in the down economy.

Officials say Washakie Wear has seen consecutive years of net losses exceeding $50,000 each year.

That has prompted the store's board of directors to modify the company's operations and marketing plans.

In addition, the directors say it is not their intention for Washakie Wear to seek a line of credit to continue operating.

The Northern Wyoming Daily News reports that the directors told stockholders that more information will be presented in the fall on whether the store should close.
