CASPER, Wyo. — A girl was struck by a vehicle near Paradise Valley Elementary School on Monday morning, although Casper Police are releasing few details about the accident.
Police on Monday refused to release the girl's age, but Natrona County School officials confirmed that she's a student in the district, not at Paradise Valley Elementary.
The girl was riding a bicycle to catch a bus to go to another school, said Dean Braughton, director of student support services for the Natrona County School District.
The accident happened near the school on Magnolia Street. Information about the driver and the car were also not available pending an investigation.
The girl was taken to Wyoming Medical Center with injuries, but police did not release information about the extent of her injuries.
Casper Police Sgt. Shawn Jenkins said no arrests have been made in the accident and it remains under investigation.
"We just can never assume that the child isn’t going to ride their bike out in front of us or run across the street without looking," Braughton said.
