ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Chevron is preparing to close its gas processing plant at Table Rock east of Rock Springs.
The plant processes sour natural gas and removes substances such as hydrogen sulfide from the methane that's burned as fuel.
Chevron officials say the plant used to process as much as 60 million cubic feet of gas a day but lately is down to just 9.5 million cubic feet.
The plant has 23 employees and shutdown is set to occur sometime in the next few months.
Chevron and Anadarko purchased the plant from El Paso Gas Co. in 2003. Chevron took over ownership in 2008.
