LARAMIE, Wyo. — A Longmont, Colo., woman who ran a red light and crashed into a car while trying to elude Wyoming state troopers faces up to 11 years' incarceration.
Twenty-one-year-old Amanda J. Collard pleaded guilty Thursday to felony driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury, and two misdemeanor counts of eluding and reckless driving. Prosecutors say the June 12 crash injured Barbara Dietz of Laramie, who now uses a cane to walk.
Collard told authorities she got drunk and drove to Laramie to confront her fiancé over his alleged affair with another woman.
Collard says she was suicidal and didn't want to hurt anybody.
District Judge Jeffrey Donnell told Collard she's everybody's worst nightmare and compared her actions with somebody playing Russian roulette.
