JACKSON, Wyo. -- The school district in Jackson has banned dogs from school campuses, including some popular public pathways that cross school grounds.
Many dog owners are unhappy, saying it's much ado about nothing.
The the problem is too much dog poop on school property. School officials also say too many dogs are running loose.
Dog trainer Thomas Mikkelsen says the ban will definitely be an inconvenience for some dog owners who use pathways across school property. He says school officials took the easy way out when there are ways to encourage people to clean up after their dogs.
The facilities director for the school district, Kevin Thibeault, says school officials tried working with dog owners, but problems increased instead of decreased.
