CHEYENNE — The family of Wyoming State Treasurer Joe Meyer says he's recovering at a Colorado hospital from successful brain surgery to remove cancer deposits.
Meyer's family issued a statement Friday afternoon saying he is expected to be released from the University of Colorado Hospital early next week.
The 70-year-old Meyer expects to return to work in February. Deputy State Treasurer Sharon Garland is serving as acting treasurer in his absence.
Meyer has been receiving treatment since he was diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2009. He has served previously as Wyoming attorney general and Wyoming secretary of state.
Mary Meyer says she and her family are thankful for support from friends and family.
