CHEYENNE — Gov. Dave Freudenthal has forwarded the names of three Wyoming lawyers to the White House for consideration for a federal judgeship.
The three lawyers Freudenthal suggested are: District Judge Scott Skavdahl, 43, of Casper; Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven K. Sharpe, 51, of Cheyenne; and Casper lawyer Mark W. Gifford, 53.
President Barack Obama could nominate one of the three lawyers to replace U.S. District Judge William F. Downes of Casper, who's retiring next July.
Freudenthal last year nominated his wife, Nancy Freudenthal, and two other lawyers for consideration for an earlier judicial vacancy. She was sworn in as a U.S. district judge in June.
