FOAL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about mustangs and their habitat, enhancing the environment for all wildlife and collaborating with the Bureau of Land Management to manage the range. Since its founding in 2005, the organization has launched projects to develop water sources in the peaks and to implement a fertility control program that will help control the herd size and reduce the need for future roundups.
In addition, FOAL purchased 160 acres adjacent to the BLM range along the Greybull Highway, 26 miles east of Cody, that features a newly installed trail with interpretive signs. Future plans call for the construction of a visitor center at the location. For more information, visit friendsofalegacy.org.
