CHEYENNE - Gov. Dave Freudenthal on Wednesday signed into law a bill to provide financial incentives for major films shot in Wyoming.

Under the law, Wyoming will reimburse filmmakers for up to 15 percent of what they spend in Wyoming on major film projects.

The Wyoming Business Council will have the authority to accept or reject applications for the reimbursement.

Initial funding for the program is $1 million.

Rep. Rosie Berger, R-Big Horn, pushed for the legislation. At the bill-signing ceremony, she said she expected the law would help the state's tourism industry.
