SHERIDAN — A veteran city judge in Sheridan has been charged with two misdemeanors for his role in an August altercation with five people outside his home.
The charges were filed Tuesday against 65-year-old Stuart Healy, the Sheridan Municipal Court judge. The Sheridan County Attorney’s Office has charged Healy with one count of unlawful contact and one count of breach of the peace. Healy is scheduled to appear in Sheridan Circuit Court on Jan. 6.
Court documents accuse Healy of striking a man during an Aug. 29 encounter. Investigators say the altercation began after Healy walked off his front porch and yelled at three teenagers and two adults passing by his home.
Healy’s attorney Kim Cannon said the judge intends to plead not guilty and is disappointed that charges were filed four months after the alleged episode.
