LARAMIE - A judge sentenced a Laramie man with an extensive criminal record to up to 40 years in prison for a DUI accident that seriously injured two people last April.

The Laramie Daily Boomerang reported Saturday that 36-year-old Gary Allen James received a 32 to 40 year sentence for convictions on two counts of felony drunken driving and two counts of aggravated assault.

In handing down a lengthy sentence, Carbon County District Court Judge Wade E. Waldrip Albany County considered James' criminal record, which includes a sex offense from Michigan in 1999, carrying a concealed weapon and malicious property destruction.

Prosecutors say James lost control of a car while driving on Wyoming 130 on April 15, 2010.
