CHEYENNE, Wyo. - A loaded pistol was discovered in a bathroom trash can at Cheyenne's Central High School.
No one was hurt when the gun was discovered Friday morning. Central Principal Matt Strannigan told the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that school officials found the pistol after a student reported hearing another student talk about it.
Police Sgt. Rob Dafoe says the student initially denied possession of the firearm but later took ownership. The student was cited for misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon.
Dafoe says there was not a round in the chamber of the pistol and that the student meant to show off the gun, not to threaten anyone.
