CHEYENNE — Rep. Cynthia Lummis is supporting the House Republican budget proposal that would cut federal spending by about $5 trillion over 10 years.
The Wyoming Republican says the proposal by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin offers bold solutions to the country's debt crisis.
Lummis says the country can either continue runaway spending that will lead to huge interest payments on debt or it can balance the budget and work to reduce the debt.
Sen. Mike Enzi says he looks forward to studying the Ryan proposal in depth. Sen. John Barrasso says the plan lays the ground work for critical discussion about the fiscal crisis.
Gov. Matt Mead says the proposal is good for Wyoming by bringing federal spending under control and providing states flexibility in programs like Medicaid.
