GREYBULL - A judge has ordered a Greybull man to pay $15,000 for killing a moose out of season in the Bighorn Mountains.
Larry Mead, 42, pleaded guilty in Washakie County Circuit Court last week. Judge Tom Harrington ordered Mead to pay $7,500 in restitution and $7,500 in fines.
Mead also lost his hunting privileges for eight years.
Mead had drawn a moose tag last year for the Grasser Lakes area near Jackson but didn't succeed in killing a moose. Instead, he killed a moose on Oct. 15 in an area of the Bighorns where he owns a cabin.
