CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Gov.-elect Matt Mead will head to Washington, D.C., early next month to meet with President Barack Obama and receive briefings from Cabinet members.
Mead said he'll meet with the president on Dec. 2 along with other newly elected governors from both parties.
Mead said he didn't know what the president planned to talk about. If given a chance to speak, though, Mead said he'd stress "continued balanced development" of Wyoming's energy resources.
The same day, Mead said, he'll also receive briefings from Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on America's overseas conflicts and homeland security, respectively.
The day before meeting with Obama, Mead said he'll join other newly elected Republican governors in meeting with incoming House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio.
