POWELL — Powell police are paying tribute to an officer who died 60 years ago from a heart attack he suffered during a disturbance call.
Anthony B. Nelson died in October 1950, but his death was not officially declared in the line of duty until this year.
Officer Matt Brilakis rediscovered Nelson's case while researching history for a celebration of Powell's 2009 centennial.
It's not clear why Nelson's death wasn't considered in the line of duty at the time.
Police and city officials held a ceremony last week honoring Nelson.
