POWELL - As part of the upcoming community Centennial celebration, the Powell Police Department is seeking information regarding the history of the department.

"Part of the community celebration will be looking back at those who have protected and served the community over the first 100 years", said Chief Tim Feathers. The Powell Health and Safety Fair on April 4 will feature displays and tributes to Powell police, fire and EMS.

The Powell police are looking for past employees or their family members who may have information regarding the police department, its employees or its operations over the years. The department is particularly seeking to locate family members of Powell Town Marshal Charles Lewis who was killed in the line of duty on March 16, 1939. They are looking for photographs, news stories and memorabilia for displays.

If you can help, call 307-754-2212. Officer Matt Brilakis and Dispatcher Emily Considine are coordinating the effort and can be reached through e-mail also at mbrilakis@cityofpowell.com or econsidine@cityofpowell.com.
