POWELL, Wyo. — Sunflower seed processor Dahlgren & Co. says it will increase the price it pays for seeds produced in the Powell area.
The Powell Tribune reported Thursday that Dahlgren field production manager Tim Petry told about 30 people at a meeting in Powell that the company was pleased with the quality of seeds grown in the area last year.
Dahlgren, based in Cookston, Minn., supplies raw and roasted sunflower products for snacks, baking, cereal and other food uses.

Petry says the seeds grown in the Powell area are mostly sent to Spain for one-by-one consumption. He says consumers there like the larger, longer varieties.
About 2,000 acres of sunflowers were planted in the Powell area last year.
