SHERIDAN, Wyo. — The Sheridan City Council has decided not to allow the transfer of a full retail liquor license to the local Walmart.
The council voted 6-1 Monday night against the transfer.
Local liquor retailers opposed the transfer.
Mayor Dave Kinskey and some city council members worried small dealers might be put out of business by Walmart being a full liquor retailer.
Those in favor of the transfer cited free enterprise and convenience as reasons to provide the superstore with the license.
