CASPER - The Sierra Club has filed a federal lawsuit challenging construction of a coal-fired power plant near Wright in northeast Wyoming.
The group contends that a years-old emissions permit for the Two Elk plant is invalid and stricter emission controls should be enforced.
North American Power Group is behind the plant and has managed to sustain a state-issued air quality permit since 1998.
The air emissions permit was put in limbo once, then reinstated in 2003 on several specific conditions.
North American Power Group spokesman Brad Enzi said the company has agreed to modify its air quality permit to the most recent control technologies under Wyoming regulatory standards.
