Police were looking for two men who passed counterfeit $100 bills in Cody and Powell, Wyo., on Wednesday and Thursday.
Several $100 bills with the same serial number have been recovered in those communities, as well as in Jackson, according to Powell police.
The suspects are described as Hispanic, and may be driving either a 1987 Honda Accord, brown or gold, Oregon license plate 200BWV, or a red Nissan Maxima, late '80s model, with Utah plates.
The bills are elaborately counterfeited and difficult to detect, police said.
The bills include a counterfeit watermark and a counterfeit security thread. Counterfeit detecting pens do not detect the bills. However, the printed 100 in the lower right corner does not "shift" as it does on a valid bill.
The suspects are believed to be connected to a nationwide organized crime operation.
