ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Three students at Western Wyoming Community College survived a crash that occurred when they drove into a deep draw where a railroad bridge had been removed.
Sweetwater County Undersheriff Craig Jackson says the three were driving north of Rock Springs on an old railbed on Wednesday night. The Chevrolet Blazer they were in fell nearly straight down about 25 feet when they reached a draw where the railroad bridge had been removed.
The three extracted themselves from the vehicle and called 911. All three refused treatment.
Jackson says people need to be careful driving on the old railbeds because bridges are commonly removed when the tracks are taken up.
