GILLETTE, Wyo. — Work has resumed on a helipad at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette.
The project was about 95 percent complete before construction came to a halt in early September.
The Gillette News Record reports concerns had arisen about a newly built elevator shaft designed to allow air ambulance teams to travel quickly down to the first-floor emergency room.
Hospital officials wondered if the upper part of the elevator shaft would get in the way of landing helicopters under certain conditions. Satisfied that the elevator shaft won't be in the way, the hospital is allowing helipad construction to wrap up.
The helipad is part of a $68.5 million expansion at the hospital.
