POWELL - New line dance and belly dance classes are being offered by Powell Valley Community Education this semester for varied noncredit personal fitness options.
Instructor Cheryl Fels will teach basic steps to popular line dances, dance etiquette and terminology. With two six-week sessions to choose from, enrollees may buy a set of passes to attend as many classes as they want in either or both sessions. No partner or previous experience needed. Cost is $6 per dance class, but there is a special offer to get one additional class free when five classes are purchased or two additional classes free with the purchase of 10. Classes meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 4-April 29 at the old Powell High School dining area. Use the north entrance.
The six-week beginning belly dance class taught by Sandy Prell will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 27-March 3 at Northwest College's Nelson Performing Arts Building, Dance Room 57. Use the west entrance. The course fee is $35. Class participants learn the basic steps and build the confidence and knowledge needed to practice the mystical art of belly dance. No experience is necessary to participate. Classes are suitable for all ages and body types. Preregistration is advised.
Belly dance classes for those students who are beyond beginners in experience level will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays, March 23-May 4, in the NWC Nelson Performing Arts Building, Dance Room 57. Use the west entrance. Cost is $35.
