An updated plan and associated environmental assessment guide fire management in Yellowstone National Park has been released for public review.
The new plan is an update to the park's 2004 Fire Management Plan and it includes updated information on the environment, information on new fire management policy, and it establishes a one-quarter mile fire suppression zone around all major park developed areas.
The EA and an electronic form to submit comments on the Internet can be found online at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/ynpfireplan. A hard copy can also be requested by calling 307-344-2017, or by writing to Compliance Office, Attention: Fire Management EA, National Park Service, P.O. Box 168, Yellowstone National Park, WY 82190.
Written comments may be submitted through the website, in person or by mail, and must be received or postmarked by midnight, Oct. 19.
